Whether for those in the 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐛 or those fearing the 𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐛, we must never worship death.
Those who worship death, whether in killing babies or killing older people who "want" to die, are making deals with death that bring deeper and deeper darkness...
Isaiah 28:18 speaks of "deals" with death - desperate attempts to get control over death, or even avoid it altogether.
"Your treaty with death will be wiped away.
Your agreement with the grave will not stand.
When the overwhelming disaster passes by,
YOU will be trampled by it."
Prof Michael Banner once said that the modern "health" service is dedicated to the worship of death - and his words ring ever more true.
The ancient Law and Prophets have many warnings about getting embroiled in death-cults.
Do not harm the human body out of respect/fear of death:
Deuteronomy 14:1; Leviticus 19:28; 1 Kings 18:28; Micah 6:7; Jeremiah 16:6
There are also strong warnings about killing babies.
Leviticus 20:2-5; Leviticus 18:21; 1 Kings 11:7; 2 Chronicles 28:2-3; 2 Kings 23:10; Jeremiah 32:35.
Archeology in the temple of Baal in Carthage has uncovered many pots containing the bones of babies.
The Guardian newspaper published a powerful article about this back in 2014 - "Just as ancient Greek and Roman propagandists insisted, the Carthaginians did kill their own infant children..."

Killing babies seems to have been a way of getting a better life - of getting health and prosperity from the "gods".
Just this last week, I heard about a practice on another continent where a young baby is sacrificed in order to bring peace & comfort to a troubled adult soul.
I have also heard how body parts from young children are taken for ceremonies or rituals to bring "blessing" on adult humans.
Of course, in modern Europe and America, it seems strange or even "primitive" to wait until the baby is born before it is killed.
(It is seen as more efficient and easier to "deal with" if the baby is sacrificed in the womb - and is not referred to as a "baby" in English - but rather is referred to as a baby in Latin: "foetus").
Many have been trapped in the Enlightenment delusion that history separates us from the ancient text.
However, even children (if they allowed to be born...) can see that these warnings about death-worship have a frighteningly constant power.
Whether we want doctors to murder people before they die - or we want to encourage/enable people to kill themselves - or we want to sacrifice babies to make life easier for adults - these "deals" or "covenants" with death were foreseen long ago.
To even touch death brought "uncleanness" in the ancient Law.
The Holy Spirit is the LORD and Giver of Life.
Church must, more than ever, be a haven or lighthouse of LIFE - in a modern dark wilderness of death-worship.
There are deep reasons why the hospice movement came from Christians.
